Marc McCormack was born in Cairns in 1970. As a child he was
fascinated by photography and bought his first camera, a roll-film
Canon F1, at age 15. Marc moved to Sydney at age 17 to chase
his dream of becoming a professional photographer. He learnt his
trade as a freelance photographer with The Still Picture Company,
shooting publicity stills on movies throughout Australia.
He joined The Cairns Post as a cadet photographer in 1989, hand
processing black and white film and photographs, before moving
back to Sydney in 1995 to work with the fast-paced Daily Telegraph
newspaper, where digital photography took over.Returning to
Cairns in 2005 with his family, Marc is now the pictorial editor at
The Cairns Post.
Marc has always had a great love of the outdoors, from the ocean
to the red centre. It was a natural progression in his career to move
into the art of panoramic photography.“I have great memories of
camping, fishing and relaxing in the bush,” Marc says.
“I feel sense unity with the Australian bush, it’s like home and this is
what I aim to portray in my images – a sense of peace and serenity,
an escape as you peer into the image.”
We sell Marc's
photography in our online shop.
